Before and After the Rain...

...they said Chicago received up to 8 inches between Friday and Sunday. We were very lucky: no flooding in our basement. As I mentioned in my previous post the art fair was cancelled at the end of the day Saturday. I took it for granted I'd have this big free and easy day Sunday but instead I was very fatigued from tearing down as I guess I usually am on a Monday after a show...it was very slow going but I got myself together later in the day and tackled the carpet tread project I had been meaning to complete for the last 3 weeks.

These beautiful wood stairs can be very slick, especially for Izzy (who we still need to carry down). Looks pretty good...just wait, in not time at all they will be covered with Alice's white fur. I'm a crazy lady to have black rugs in my house (with a white dog) but I need them to balance all the color. (Have not yet painted the stairwell or 2nd floor hallway - I'm thinking red...!)

PS By the time I finished treading...the rains subsided.

Planted and hosted by Bill Friedman and Cathi (Corn) Schwalbe-Bouzide. Met Cathi's chickens, ate fresh roasted corn and had our photos taken as urban farmers in Grant Wood's "American Gothic"...(hard to see but the Sears Tower is in the background). I met Bill the first year I did the Fields Project in 2003 and Cathi and I met through Lill Street Art Center. She is lovingly referred to as the "Corn Lady" at the Fields Project where she is a regular paricpant every summer. This is their 3rd year bringing agriculture and antics into various communities in the city...

$100 Dollars and under...

The only rule at the Mount Mary Starving Artists' Show: you can only sell art for $100 or less. I'll be offering a few great deals if you find yourself in Milwaukee in the morning! I just varnished these paintings for the show...better get to sleep.

PS Good news, Izzy saw wonderful Dr. Carl DeStefano today...he practices Chiropractic Neurology and Applied Kinesiology...very interesting treatment to watch! He said we should see results by tomorrow night - we are already seeing an improvement and a much happier girl. Thanks for all your good thoughts!
