Tandem Trip #3 of 2010

My handsome husband sporting his tribal sunscreen application...Last Sunday we headed to Indiana to ride on the Erie Lackawanna Trail. We did about 20 miles, all paved...I prefer more wooded trails but this was perfect for the day as the sun kept us warm and the trees in bloom were gorgeous. Not sure if we'll ride tomorrow...weather looks iffy and I have so much to do before I hit the road for Kansas City on Wednesday....hoping my painting muse shows up tomorrow! I'll leave you with a few more trees in bloom photos, one looking out our kitchen window and the other over here in Roscoe Village near my studio. Spring sure came early this year!

Art on Tap...

I'm loving the brick walls at The Village Tap, where I hung several paintings last week...my works contrast well with the casual urban vibe of this popular Roscoe Village pub known as "Chicago's Premiere Neighborhood Tavern & Beer Garden". My show will be up through May...so stop by to have a drink (over 26 beers on tap!), enjoy some of their fabulous food and the art (all works are available for sale)...and hey, why not swing by my studio on the way, if I'm here I just might join you!

 

6 foot commission...signed, sealed & delivered!

 

  On Thursday I delivered this 6 foot commission that has been in the works since last fall. My clients are a wonderful couple from the Roscoe Village neighborhood. It was a fun collaboration, taking their list of things/places they love and then developing a composition around these elements. It becomes a very personal and meaningful piece. I can't wait to see photos of it hung, they have a gorgeous home and the colors are so complementary. I've included photos of the painting at different stages as well as the final sketch that was selected as a basis for the original piece of art.

Warm Wishes and Safe Travels to You...wherever you may be or are going this year for the Holidays. It's been a wonderfully busy season for me, but things are definitely winding down here. I have my last Pet Portrait pick up tomorrow (I'll share photos after all the gifts are given!) and I'll stick around the shop until about 3pm, hoping to help out any last minute shoppers! (Is it annoying that I sometimes say studio and some times say shop? Let me clarify, when the black cloth is on my work table it's a "Shop" and when it's not, it's my "Studio"...although I'm thinking of painting the table black then that all goes out the window!) Then we'll load up Izzy and Alice and hop in the car to head up to rural Warrens, WI to my my Mom's beautiful log house in the woods. It's the perfect place to visit at this time of year and I always have so much fun baking with my Mom, we will be creating our bi-ennial Gingerbread House.This is all providing that the weather cooperates... Before I go, I wanted to share this photo of Izzy from the other day...she is havingquite a rally lately, aside from the 'night time crazies' (a period of45 minutes or so every evening when nothing seems to appease her...Rich and I are working on a song). And here's silly Alice careening around in the snow...she loves the white stuff!

Young At Heart...

This is Ginger, she was our guest of honor on Saturday for the Young At Heart Pet Rescue Adoption Event...

As you can see, she is a very sweet, laid back 10 year old Jack Russell Terrier Mix, just right for a family with older kids or senior citizens'. Her owner got sick and was no longer able to care for her, this is the plight of many dogs and cats that the Young At Heart Pet Rescue volunteers take into their homes to foster until new permanent homes can be found.
