If you've ever chatted with me at a show, chances are I told you all about my dogs and their influence on my art. So I was a little nervous about retaining my composure, since this was myfirst art fair since losing Izzy, and I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. As luck would have it, the Greyhounds Only rescue group were set up across from my booth at the Wells Street Show. They created a beautiful diversion, and also inspired me all weekend long. I did several drawings of them and in the midst of sharing with people about Izzy, did my first 'patron saint of' / post-pumpkin sketches.

R.V. Dog & Art Lovers Night = Big Fun!
Events, Shows & Ar..., Helping out our 4 Legg...2 CommentsWe didn't know what to expect for our first ever RVDALN, but it turned out to be a very fun night...lots of people came, several with their 4 legged friends and we collected quite a 'bounty' of supplies for the Chicago Canine Rescue Shelter. Our adorable Guest of Honor, Norton a 5 month old Bassett Hound mix, was not able to stay the whole evening but he made many friends while he was here and I'm confident he will be adopted very soon!
Norton: Follow the link for adoption info.
All the generous supply donations that came in from attendees for the Chicago Canine Rescue Shelter.
We also had complimentary human treats and a visit from the Pepperoni King! This man needs a crown!
Vail...that doggy in the window.
A darling young lady doing her doggy impression.
Saying goodnight to Norton and Rachel, one of the wonderful volunteers from Chicago Canine Rescue.
Snicker gets his wings...
Clay1 Comment
My dog sculpture of Snicker is complete...came out pretty well with the exception of a hairline crack across the base...oh the joys of working with clay! Luckily there are some great epoxy products out there that may save the day if it decides to split. This piece is about 23" long and 13" high. Follow the link for the story behind this piece.

6 foot commission...signed, sealed & delivered!
Commissioned Art, New Work7 Comments On Thursday I delivered this 6 foot commission that has been in the works since last fall. My clients are a wonderful couple from the Roscoe Village neighborhood. It was a fun collaboration, taking their list of things/places they love and then developing a composition around these elements. It becomes a very personal and meaningful piece. I can't wait to see photos of it hung, they have a gorgeous home and the colors are so complementary. I've included photos of the painting at different stages as well as the final sketch that was selected as a basis for the original piece of art.
I love this process and felt great working so big! Let me know if you would like to discuss a special custom painting for yourself!
