A peek at my sketchbook...

SketchbookAnne LeuckComment

Picture 16 So much to share and so little time to blog. In the mean time, here's a little peek at my sketchbook from earlier this month...drew this in Minneapolis over the course of an afternoon at the Uptown Art Fair. Note the bottom of the page 'I got lost last night'....(no, I do not have a gps and I have the most basic of old fashioned cell phones). I like good old fashioned maps, but did I have one? Of course not ; ) I was trying to find my way back to my friend's house in St. Paul, exhausted from the heat, tired, starving and with a killer headache. I couldn't get ahold of my friend or Rich (back in Chicago), to check on-line. Did what we all had to do in the old days, stopped at a gas station and some lovely residents of St. Paul were happy to point me in the right direction after declaring 'you are WAY far from where you want to be'...always grateful for the kindness of strangers.

Wells Street Wrap Up Part II

Events, Shows & Ar..., Sketchbook, The Dogs Behind the ArtAnne Leuck2 Comments

Picture 35If you've ever chatted with me at a show, chances are I told you all about my dogs and their influence on my art. So I was a little nervous about retaining my composure, since this was myfirst art fair since losing Izzy, and I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. As luck would have it, the Greyhounds Only rescue group were set up across from my booth at the Wells Street Show. They created a beautiful diversion, and also inspired me all weekend long. I did several drawings of them and in the midst of sharing with people about Izzy, did my first 'patron saint of' / post-pumpkin sketches.Picture 39

Yellow Dog + Swirly Sky Finds a new home...

Collectors Corner, Events, Shows & Ar...Anne LeuckComment

Picture 10 A bit behind on my blog posts these days, well a bit behind on everything, I guess. Adjusting to new realities which I will address next week. This is a happy new collector with her friend, from the Broadripple Art Fair in Indianapolis last month. I tried out a new booth configuration there...really only moving a wall a few feet, but it completely changes the space that I occupy in the booth, the key here being that I am visibly 'in' the booth not sitting behind the wall.Picture 15I like it and am looking forward to trying it again at this weekend's Wells Street Art Festival here in Chicago, from 10am-dusk Saturday & Sunday:

Anne's not in Kansas anymore...

Events, Shows & Ar...Anne Leuck1 Comment

I'm back in Chicago after a wonderful trip to the Kansas City area for the Brookside Art Fair. The trip was good on all fronts, I did this one on my own and was inspired by my drive through the beautiful rolling hills of Iowa farmland, got to spend the weekend with my good friend Laura Nugent, reconnected with artists and customers I had not seen in awhile and met so many new ones. Left lots of Anne's art in Kansas City including the Beautiful Bald Headed Man below. I'm here this weekend then hit the road again next week for the Broad Ripple Art Fair in Indianapolis. Busy is good...trying to stress less this year and just enjoy the journey that I am so fortunate to be on... Picture 23 Beautiful, bald new collector!Picture 12High school pal, Therese and her daughter Cody, who live MO came by to say hello...Picture 3 Laura and Deacon...he was waiting anxiously by the door for us every night. 6a00d83451d4a069e201348095833b970c-800wi.png My booth all lit up...we set up our tents under bigger one so we had electricity. Wish my paintings showed this way at all art fairs!Picture 5

How many artists does it take to...Picture 28 Crossing the mighty Mississippi, on the way there and then back via a detour through Moline...I grew up swimming in this river much further north in the LaCrosse area, it's the place of some of my favorite childhood memories.
